Finding the parts, feeding in the money, and doing the task that’s required of you to get the elevator for the next floor working is the stuff of heavy, sweet sweet addiction. Level warps are very, very difficult to unlock, but they remain the most vital part of playing Gungeon, well over any weapon or passive item upgrade. The game’s mechanics never feel forced, and almost always feel rewarding. There’s a sort of magic in Gungeon‘s lessons here. It’s almost as if developer Dodge Roll Games wants to play on the impulses that make you act certain ways in other shooters. I’ve never played a shooter, roguelike or shoot ’em up, that untrained my brain like Enter the Gungeon does.
